India observes Independence Day on August 15 every year as a National Holiday to remember the day the Country gained its Independence from the United Kingdom and the provisions of the 1947 Indian Independence Act, which gave the Indian Constituent Assembly legislative authority, went into force. King George VI remained the head of state of India until it became a Republic on January 26, 1950, which is recognised as Indian Republic Day. At that time, the dominion prefix, Dominion of India, was replaced with the sovereign law Constitution of India, which also abolished the use of the dominion prefix. Following the Freedom Movement, known for its primarily nonviolent resistance and civil disobedience, India gained Independence.

By the 17th century, European Traders had established outposts on the Indian subcontinent. The East India Company attacked and conquered local kingdoms with their superior military prowess, becoming the dominating force by the 18th century. The Government of India Act of 1858 allowed the British Crown to take full control of India after the Indian Rebellion of 1857. The British took over Indian rule after that and controlled it till India gained its freedom. For many years, Indians fought to become Independent. Civic society gradually began to grow in India in the next decades, most notably the Indian National Congress Party, which was founded in 1885.

On July 4, 1947, the Indian Independence Bill was presented to the British House of Commons, and it was approved within 15 days. History was made on August 15, 1947, when British dominion over India came to an end. India eventually achieved Independence from British colonial domination on August 15, 1947, after a protracted era of colonial rule. India became independent at midnight on August 15, 1947. Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime minister, began his address with the beautiful line, “At the stroke of midnight, while the world sleeps, India shall awake to life and Independence. The battle for the country’s Independence was protracted and difficult. For India to regain its freedom, many freedom warriors and many of other individuals gave their blood and their lives. Finally, on this day, India was recognised as a free Nation and went on to establish the largest Democracy in the World.

The Tricolor Flag, where each colour represents a distinct aspect of National spirit. Saffron represents Glory and pleasure, White represents serenity, and Green represents faith. Our flag features an Ashok chakra in the middle with 24 evenly spaced spikes.

The Partition of British India into the Dominions of India and Pakistan, which was followed by violent riots, massive deaths, and the eviction of almost 15 million people owing to religious violence, occurred concurrently with India’s declaration of Independence. Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime minister, hoisted the Country’s Flag over the Lahore Gate of the Red Fort in Delhi on August 15, 1947. The current Prime Minister raises the Flag and addresses the country on each successive Independence Day. The National broadcaster of India, Doordarshan, broadcasts the whole event, India celebrates Independence Day with flag-raising ceremonies, parades, and cultural events.

We Should Know about India

Post 15th August 1947, India’s journey has become a Great example of an impressive Growth story. The Indian government decided to salute freedom heroes and celebrate India’s 75th anniversary of Independence. Government gave the event name “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.” Amrit Mahotsav, which means to “Nectar of Grand Celebration,” marks the 75th anniversary of India’s freedom from the British Raj. On the occasion of the Country’s 75th anniversary of Independence, the Prime minister unveiled a series of Policies and initiatives and urged everyone to work toward making the coming 25 years a Golden period for India.

A campaign called “Har Ghar Tiranga” is being run by Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to persuade people to carry the Tiranga home and hoist it in celebration of India’s 75th anniversary of Independence. We’ve always had a more official, institutional relationship with the flag than a personal one. Bringing the flag home as a nation in our 75th year of Independence symbolises both our dedication to establishing a better country and our act of personal connection to the Tiranga. Invoking a sense of patriotism in people’s hearts and raising awareness of the Indian National Flag are the goals of the programme.

1. How is Independence Day Celebrated?
On this day, the National anthem is performed, and parade, rallies are also held around the Nation in a variety of institutions, households, and societies in addition to flag-hoisting rituals. To honour their Country and culture, Indians make an effort to dress in the Tricolour. At the Red Fort in Old Delhi, the Prime Minister of our Nation raises the National Flag. There is also a procession that includes police and military personnel. The Prime Minister talks to the Nation in a speech about the Nation’s achievements over the years.

Individual Indian states and towns will also commemorate the occasion on a local level. This will take place in several locations across the city from August 13 to 15. The festivities include a variety of shows, performances, rallies, local events, etc. In order to recognise India’s post-Independence prosperity and expansion, people are commemorating Azadi ka Mahotsav. Almost all of India’s regions and ethnic groups are represented at the highest levels of Government because to Democracy. Women have been elected as chief ministers of many of India’s big states as well as the prime minister, president, and speaker of the Indian parliament.

Freedom of expression and access to fundamental rights are two benefits of being an Independent Nation. To live a life of freedom, Independence is necessary. People should always remember our freedom warriors and respect the Independence we have attained. Our brave warriors have sacrificed much throughout the years to secure that future generations can live in freedom and dignity. Salute the troops and freedom fighters who gave their lives so that we might live out our Goal of a Free and United India. We honour the courageous individuals. Everyone in the Nation should be aware of their duty to create a Proud Nation.
